Though he grew up in Florida and Virginia, LaMotte's music clearly has its roots in the North Carolina mountains,
which he came to love during annual family vacations in the small town of Montreat. After graduation from college with a degree in Psychology (and one semester of music theory), he chose to make
western NC his home and became part of the region's blossoming acoustic music scene. Since then his musical achievements have been recognized with arts council grants, songwriting awards, and
artist deals from Taylor Guitars and John Pearse Strings. |

BenJammin' doesn't just sing. He lives his unique songs onstage, his resonant baritone bringing his award-winning music vividly to life. The contemporary
folk singer/songwriter's ecospiritual leanings, accomplished guitar work and dynamic stage presence further enhance his entertaining, uplifting performances. "I occasionally touch on serious issues," BenJammin' said, "but my first job is to
entertain. My shows have plenty of humor, love songs and upbeat material. I like my audiences to go home smiling." BenJammin' was honored when his song "Shining From Inside", co-written with Deanna Lane, won First Place
in the 2001 OSCA Songwriting Contest. And in 2002 he was an official performer at Bele Chere, the South's largest street festival, which draws over 350,000 people. Originally a classical guitarist – he gave world
premiere performances at two national guitar symposiums – BenJammin' now uses his advanced fingerstyle technique on steel strings. But he's no
traditionalist – he spices his guitar work with altered tunings, partial capos, strumming and guitar-drumming. His songwriting is also eclectic, with flavors
ranging from folk, Broadway and pop to New Age, Middle Eastern and jazz.

Combine big, bluesy, sometimes sweet vocals, deeply felt songwriting, and soild guitar work with action oriented social conscience, and you get a sense of the powerful music of Dawn
Humphrey. She first thought of songwriting as a means to express her personal and professional experiences, but soon realized that she had found her true life's calling, and left the world of social services
to persue a career in music. Wanting to use her music to create social change, Dawn has organized and performed at many successful benefit concerts in the Asheville,NC community. She has also performed
regularly at many clubs, coffeehouses, and festivals in the Western North Carolina area, including the Asheville Music Zone, and
Asheville's Bele Chere Festival. The songs on Dawn's new CD, "You Don't Have To Wait Until Heaven". reflect her sense of social justice, family ties, and
enviromental concerns, and cover a wide stylistic range from blues, rock, country, world beat and folk. |
